GENERAL
INFORMATION
Margate Airport is 10 minutes away and SA Airlink
schedules daily flights from the major centers. Car rental agency offices
are situated at the airport building.
Figtree Lodge offers free airport
transfers on request.
Places of worship for all denominations are located
through the South Coast regions. There are good private and general
hospitals in the region. Due to the sometimes-harsh sun, it is advisable
to use a suitable SP factor sun cream when outdoors. Those who burn easily
might wish to pack a large brimmed sun-hat.
The South Coast is a holiday
area, and smart-casual clothing will suffice in most venues. Very few
restaurants request formal attire. Winter evenings can become slightly
chilly and it is advisable to pack a jersey and a waterproof windbreaker.
Although the area is relatively safe in comparison to the major
centers,
it is not advisable to walk alone at night in isolated areas, and for your
safety, we do not recommend that you leave valuables unattended on public
beaches.
Cell phone reception is good and there are public call boxes in
most centers. While on holiday with us, you are welcome to have your
e-mail forwarded to our address.
Please be aware that the Protection
Services have adopted a policy of zero tolerance to crime. Speed limits
are enforced and excess alcohol levels are dealt with severely. Please
drive safely, buckle up and arrive alive.
